Where Green Gate works

The 30A corridor and south Walton County, Florida. Eight stretches of the same twenty-six miles of coast, and not one of them wants the same thing from a lawn.

Why the town matters

Walton County has fifteen named coastal dune lakes along twenty-six miles of coastline. It is a landform that exists in only a handful of places on earth. Every one of them drains to the Gulf through the beach, which is the practical reason Green Gate treats organically everywhere rather than choosing per property.

The other reason is sun. Seagrove sits under an oak grove old enough to have named the place. Seacrest counts 1,278 palm trees across 78 acres. Alys Beach is mostly walled courtyards. Dune Allen is wide open and takes salt spray straight off the water. A grass that thrives in one of those fails in another, and UF/IFAS puts real numbers behind that: bahiagrass is rated very poor for salt tolerance, centipedegrass poor, and St. Augustine, zoysia and bermuda all good.
